Getting some of our polishing work displayed on the front of one of the most well known magazines was a big surprise! The boys at Coastline Kitchens gave us the call to stain & polish a large American Oak Kitchen for one of their clients. We were provided a sample piece of oak and colour matched the entire kitchen around that sample. Getting geared up for the new year so we thought we’d recap the year that was! It was a fantastic year for us, a lot of changes in our workplace and a lot of awesome projects that were completed. Here’s a bit of insight into the polishing process for this massive Bishop’s Chair! We used a traditional shellac to enhance the natural colour of the grain. There was a lot of timber that varied in colour that was hand coloured to pull in to the rest of the piece. Once we had enough shellac built up, we refined it with some hand polishing and filled in the grain more. We had to work out a way to make this piece look old and charming whilst keeping a consistent colour to it. You little ripper! We love working on quality antiques like this little Davenport Writing Desk. We had a lot of veneer repairs on this piece, along with a big split down the centre panel that needed attention. We also had to turn a new handle for a drawer that was missing. The leather insert was also replaced and aged to suit the piece. You little ripper! We love working on quality antiques like this little Davenport Writing Desk. We had a lot of veneer repairs on this piece, along with a big split down the centre panel that needed attention. We also had to turn a new handle for a drawer that was missing. We used a lot of TLC on this piece to get it to its current state. Finished in its natural Honey Oak colour with cleaned hardware ??. We also polished a nice Art Deco Hall Cabinet as well.
